Health Benefits of Curcumin

Anti-Cancer Benefits

Laboratory studies have shown that curcumin has anticancer capabilities through its anti-inflammatory properties. It is able to effectively differentiate between cancer cells and normal cells, thereby activating cancer cell death.

It has been shown to have desirable effects in colon cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, prostate cancer and skin cancer cells.

An American study has shown that a combination of curcumin and chemotherapy in the treatment of colon cancer killed more cancer cells than just chemotherapy alone.

It has also helped to stop the advancement of breast cancer cells. New studies have shown promise that curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties that help to block the Human Papiloma virus (HPV) that is associated with cervical cancer. With hope, cervical cancer can be prevented and treated.

However, curcumin has poor solubility and absorption from the gut. Absorption is aided by piperine the active ingredient in black paper. This helps to enhance the action of curcumin.
